Summer Heat Bass Fishing North MS Reservoirs

The heat in Mississippi can be pretty bad in the summer but if you are willing to brave the heat you can catch some bass in Sardis Lake, Enid Lake, Grenada Lake and Arkabutla Lake. What you need to look for is deep drop offs preferably with cover. Main lake points or river/creek banks with steep depth changes are best depending on water level. Fish shallower early in the morning, late in the evening, or overnight but once the sun comes out and the temperature starts rising you are going to have to move deeper. Up in the day I prefer to fish soft plastics on a Texas rig or Shakey head. If I am fishing cover I like a crank bait in a shad or bream color that runs deep enough to bump the brush or cover I am targeting. Drop shot is popular but I am just not very good at it yet. A club tournament on Enid Lake recently had four bags over 20 pounds and the tournament was won with almost 25 pounds. Big Bass was over eight pounds. If you do hit the lake when it is hot be sure to let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Drink plenty of water and Gator Aid or Power Aid to stay hydrated. Dehydration can come upon you quickly. Water is good but one of the drinks that replace your electrolytes really makes a big difference. Be safe and even if you don’t catch fish enjoy the time outdoors.

Good Job Boss! I like the blog! Looking forward to following along!
